I am Chris Hanson. I own and operate Ancient Paths Architecture as a sole practitioner.
I am an architect in North Central Washington. My focus is on residential design. I have been designing residential buildings for 10 years, and designed and built my own house and DADU! 1. What is a DADU?
ADU = Accessory Dwelling Unit (can be connected to a main residence)
DADU = Detached Accessory Dwelling Unit

This is a small residential building (house) built on a lot which already has a separate house. Until recently, zoning codes often severely limited how many dwelling units a residential lot could contain (usually 1 house only).
​
Codes are now changing, which means you have an opportunity to seize!
​
Many local zoning codes are being updated to allow higher density (more houses per lot), which makes DADUs a fantastic way to earn rental income, house relatives, or have a guest house ready for visitors!
2. Why hire an architect?
Buildings are complex. Regulations are strict. Professionals are finicky.

The process of creating a building design which actually works, let alone fits your desired uses, is riddled with paths which lead away from your desired destination. An architect acts as a guide and informant through the myriad difficulties along your potentially exhausting journey. And at the end, you have the documents you need to make your dream become part of this world!
3. Where are services offered?
Ancient Paths Architecture is based near Wenatchee, WA, and I primarily provide services in central Washington State.​

That said, I am licensed in Washington, so if your project is located within the state, then I am happy to have an initial discussion about how to make your project succeed.
